Thursday May 5th

Dendrobium `Banana Royale'
Today was a day fraught with changes. Deb's appointments today (blood work and then radiation) took a turn for the worse. Her blood results this morning were dramatically different than just a day or so ago. The hematology lab got the results in moments it seemed as Deb and I waited in the public waiting room for treatment. The medical staff in charge there were notified from Oncology that Deb should be moved into a "safe room" while awaiting treatment as her platelets were very low thus absolutely no immunity to infections.
Subsequent visits to Cancer Care Deb will have to wear a mask and of course take all precautions; we will be sent to the safe room to wait for treatment.
Borage
Tomorrow's schedule internal treatment has been re-scheduled as a consequence to Deb's current condition but she will have a "booster" radiation treatment brought forward from next week, so not a lost day.
On the brighter side of things, today was the final radiation treatment, number 25 so from here on in, the acute side affects should start to subside.

She is eating better today and is trying to get as much fluid into her as she can, this of course will help her electrolytes. Deb enjoyed a nice chat with her brother, a doctor, this evening, a good sign that she wants to talk to folks as often she is too tired to even speak.

Plantain
Tomorrow will be a short treatment and run to the hospital, so Deb can rest and regain some strength. I will go into the office as work is piling up and it will be nice to spend almost a full day there. Saturday I suspect I will take some time also, perhaps the morning at work, the kids will both be here to watch over Mom. We are vigilant with her temperature as if it rises to much I am to take her immediately to the hospital and she will be admitted. Not likely to happen, but we are all on call as it were.

Hopefully we are passing the deepest part of this swamp and working our way out the other side. We booked our flights today, so we are in countdown mode.

Burdock
Take good care.
