Well let me tell you that we got lots of information today for sure. A typical day for the most part as I went to work, the kids followed suit at their respective times. However, I came downstairs just after 5am to find Deb sitting on one of the living room couches. Apparently she was hungry and couldn't sleep so we were both up together for what might be considered quality time.
Deb's blood work came back today with news that her immune system is pretty well shot. Her white blood cell count was desperately low, so now we have all the hygiene regime to contend with. Visitors are not a good idea nor are kids as the germ base is high and we just cant afford any sniffles, flu or anything.
As a matter of fact it was suggested by the team that Deb wear a mask for her visits to the hospital for treatments. By the way, tomorrow is the last radiation treatment that is non specific. Of course Friday there is her internal and the weekend to follow. Thereafter, only the five spot treatments and only 2 more internal treatments.
The specialist told us that about two weeks after the gross radiation the acute side affects subside, a good day that will be for sure.
Deb spends most of the day in bed, and I attempt to make sure that she is eating and keeping hydrated. A tough shift for sure as she really doesn't want to eat much and most food and drink makes her squishy.
The rest of us are doing as well as can be expected and really do appreciate you kind words of support, as this is a tough roe to hoe.
Take good care of yourselves and your loved ones.
