Day 12 - Friday (sponsored by Immodium)

OMG lattes at the cottage! Imagine that
Finally the weekend and all the good things that come with a couple of days off; or at least a change of venue.
Funny, today I was chatting with some colleagues about the situation here, and each of them so positively pointed out that on Monday, we will be past the half way mark in treatment. Amazing to say the least!
This is one icky swamp to trudge through, believe me. Nice to have all our loved ones on the edge of the swamp with their various life preservers, ropes and hooks to help us but we at well into the swamp now and have to make it to the other side.
Holding up really well actually, the good news always helps. Like today, Deb's blood work is great, so Monday doesn't require a transfusion, only chemo and the assortment of anti-nausea drugs... wow what great news eh?
Today as with most end of the week days, Deb is not great. The sordid side affects of radiation are taking their toll. Understanding that the effects are cumulative, it is not promising for a delicate transition next week for certain. Imodium is our friend as is proximity to the "Lou".
A very positive item today was that Deb got her mark back for the paper she presented in her Art History (Masters) course... she lost 1.5 marks, can you just imagine? I told her to study more, and prepare a decent bibliography <lol> so not me.... We are all very proud of her accomplishments. Who had any idea that the "sperm of Zeus" could garner such attention in the art world? What do I know?
I printed off a stack of material this evening for her to study for the final exams, which her Prof so generously suggested that when she is up to writing  it she could do it. It is important to maintain focus as we trudge through the swamp along with whatever semblance of normalcy we can muster.
we actually stopped shopping to have a photo taken! What's up with that?
The kids are doing very well under the circumstances. Chris is very helpful with the domestic chores and errands, Lizz the driver and picker-upper, and then me the glue I guess. Yes we can all do laundry understanding with irreverent detail what colors go with what, water temperatures, dryer protocol and a lot of stuff that might make a reality show one day!
It is an early to bed evening for sure; Deb is already down at 5pm watching TV and hopefully getting some rest. Tomorrow promises to be a bright day, Chris and I have a boy's day planned to shop, Starbucks, lunch out, the zoo to check out the lions and just spend some time together. Mom will stay of course at home, in touch by txt or cell so we are never too disconnected or far away.
Enjoy your weekend all and to our Aussie buds, enjoy the upcoming work week, you are all in our thoughts as well.
