| Dear friends Collen and Jane in Mandurah, WA |
| All that studying will pay off! Another A+ no doubt |
Friday is blood work day, and all went well. Hemoglobin in particular is checked among two other tests and Deb's samples are sent "urgent STAT" . Amazing, by the time she and Lizz got home, the lab had called with great news, no need for transfusion on Monday before chemo.
As it turns out, this was not a great day after all. Deb is much better in the mornings and as most of us, fades in the afternoon. Thankfully next week's radiation appointments are all in the afternoon. She and Lizz had a three hour siesta to attempt to clear Lizz's migraine and the "punky" feeling that Deb is experiencing.
As far as I can tell, Deb is just in a sort of weary state, I think that is the best word to use. She is not sick, as in nausea, but not perky either. It seems very apparent that something is definitely going on as she seems a bit more distracted or better said, in distant thought. I bet it's hard not to be with all that is taking place inside. Deb tries to describe her sensations to me but it is hard to put into words, other than something is going on for sure.
Drugs for Monday are ordered ahead of time as they have to be brought in and as you have heard, there is a definite time to take them pre-chemo.
I shopped around after work today trying to find the right perfume for Deb, and geez, it is hard to find. I suggested that we should fly somewhere where we need to go through duty free, that's the only place lately that I have seen it... not happening! | beautiful lilies and roses |
Nevertheless here we are almost a week into treatment with no horrendous side affects, a lot to be thankful for. We plan to go to a wee shop just down the street to pick out some crystals and stones that Deb likes, and maybe a bracelet, one of those magnetic ones. I want to have a memento bracelet made for her with each of the five chemo sessions marked by a stone and the radiation days marked similarly but in ratio. I called an artist friend of mine who is thrilled to work on this project, so we will shop for the accouterments tomorrow if all goes well.
Thanks so much for all your warm wishes, prayers and good energy! All is helping us all more than you can know.
